SUN + OILS:
There are 2 things you'll want to be mindful of:
1. Heat will change the chemical constituents of your oils. Don't leave them in the car on a hot day. Change begins above 90 degrees.
2. There are some oils that cause the skin to be photosensitive. Check your labels for which oils to be careful of before going out in the sun. Some oils such as Bergamot - can cause the skin to burn severely up to 72 hours after topical application (note - photosensitivity doesn't occur with internal use of citrus oils - just topical)
WHY does this happen with some oils such as citrus oils? It's because of furocoumarins in the citrus oils applied topically, bind to the skin and when exposed to prolonged, direct UV light (from the sun or tanning beds).
This causes the skin (directly where you applied the oil) to react with the sun. This is simple chemistry because doTERRA oils are from the pure plant.
